Ireland’s Favourite Story Time Book – And the Winner is…
The people of Ireland have spoken! Our favourite Story Time book is officially The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler. We have a bumper Story Time reading this Saturday (December 15th), in which we’ll read The Gruffalo and Niamh Sharkey’s Santasaurus!
The Gruffalo is a beautifully-illustrated book depicting the intrepid mouse outwitting a variety of predatory animals. How? By casually mentioning that he’s waiting for his buddy, the (supposedly) fictional Gruffalo who just happens to dine on the likes of ‘scrambled snake’. Needless to say, the animals don’t wait around to become a monstrous hors d’oeuvre.
“Silly old snake, doesn’t he know?
There’s no such thing as a Gruffalo!”
Or is there?
Join us in every Eason store in Ireland at 11am this Saturday (December 15th) to hear Ireland’s favourite Story Time book – The Gruffalo – and Santasaurus by Children’s Laureate Niamh Sharkey.
Story Time Book, December 1st – I’m a Happy Hugglewug
If Niamh Sharkey’s Ravenous Beast was her loud, proud, chew-it-up book – I’m A Happy Hugglewug is her all-singing, all-dancing, ‘party on’ book.
There is so much enjoyable mayhem in this book that I actually don’t know where to begin describing its genius. But all I suppose you need to know is that the kids will adore the Happy Hugglewug Family and return to them time and time again!
(And I didn’t even mention the new Disney TV show, based on the book ,that is launching next year: The Happy Hugglemonsters.)
Come join us in every Eason store in Ireland at 11am on Saturday, December 1st, as we read I’m a Happy Hugglewug to children, adults and big kids!

Story Time Book, Saturday, November 17th – The Gruffalo’s Child
“The snow fell fast and the wind blew wild, Into the wood went the Gruffalo’s child”
Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s second Gruffalo book follows the exploits of an intrepid young Gruffalo venturing into the night, despite the warnings from Daddy Gruffalo.
What’s in the wood? Why, the big, bad mouse, of course! A scary creature that dines on the likes of Gruffalo cake (by the lake).
“I’m not scared, said the Gruffalo’s child.”
Maybe you should be.
