Bestselling Irish author Patricia Scanlan sent us this exclusive post about the impending publication of her latest novel, With All My Love, which will be released on February 28th. Make sure to enter the competition at the end of this post to win tickets to an evening with Patricia!
Hello Dear Eason’s Followers on this beautiful sunny morning here in Dublin. I can’t believe it’s ‘New Book” time again. I remember twenty-two years ago (Ahem! Skip over that quickly) seeing the first copy of City Girl in Eason’s O’Connell Street with the lovely Sally Mimnagh who had invited me in to talk to the staff. It was one of the most exciting moments of my life, as was arriving at Easons the following year on my own bus, with big posters advertising Apartment 3B, to be greeted by Sally and the staff holding a huge banner on the steps of the shop saying Easons Welcomes Patricia Scanlan. Easons have been hugely supportive of my books down the years and it’s always a real pleasure to visit the shops on my book tours. We’ve held many events and it’s always great to go and meet all the other Irish authors at these occasions. We have sold millions of books worldwide, which is a wonderful achievement. Sadly, our dear Maeve has passed on but there are many more of us to hold her banner high. She was always very proud to see our books displayed in bookshops around the world.
This time last year I was just starting With All My Love, and today it’s all ready to go into Eason’s warehouse where I’ll soon be signing hundreds and hundreds of copies to go into the Eason shops countrywide so there will be signed copies for Mother’s Day everywhere. I’ll also be doing some formal signings in Eason’s O’Connell Street, Blanchardstown and Belfast. And we have a lovely event planned in Eason’s in Patrick Street, Cork. A Mother’s Day evening with me on Thursday 28th Feb, which will include prizes of lovely goody bags! Watch this space for dates and times. My publishers are also running a competition on my Patricia Scanlan Facebook page to win a signed copy of With All My Love before publication so please enter before Monday 18th.
My Publicity Manager will post on Facebook and twitter when I’m in the various shops signing stock so please drop in and say hello if you get the chance. Looking forward to seeing you and a big Thank You to Easons and yourselves for all the support down the years.

Then it became a known fact that Pirates were also fairly fond of these undergarments.
But what wasn’t known until very recently, but is now so definitely true… is that, while dinosaurs roamed the earth, they did so in the biggest, largest, most ginormous pairs of underpants you will have ever seen.
This book is that story. And it is AWESOME!
Come join us in every Eason store in Ireland at 11am on Saturday, February 9th, as we read Dinosaurs Love Underpants to children, adults and big kids!
This week’s Story Time book is Chris Judge’s sweet and charming tale of a beast who, while happy doing what he does, feels the need to search for something different… and possibly find other creatures just like him. Judge’s story reminds me of Sendak’s Where the Wild Things Are – it’s simply drawn yet beautifully presented and told.
Kids will grow to adore The Beast as he searches the countryside and adults can only love a story in which being different and following your own path is as important a message as ‘friends and family’. Highly recommended!
Come join us in every Eason store in Ireland at 11am on Saturday, January 26th, as we read The Lonely Beast to children, adults and big kids!

The people of Ireland have spoken! Our favourite Story Time book is officially The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler. We have a bumper Story Time reading this Saturday (December 15th), in which we’ll read The Gruffalo and Niamh Sharkey’s Santasaurus!
The Gruffalo is a beautifully-illustrated book depicting the intrepid mouse outwitting a variety of predatory animals. How? By casually mentioning that he’s waiting for his buddy, the (supposedly) fictional Gruffalo who just happens to dine on the likes of ‘scrambled snake’. Needless to say, the animals don’t wait around to become a monstrous hors d’oeuvre.
“Silly old snake, doesn’t he know?
There’s no such thing as a Gruffalo!”
Or is there?
Join us in every Eason store in Ireland at 11am this Saturday (December 15th) to hear Ireland’s favourite Story Time book – The Gruffalo – and Santasaurus by Children’s Laureate Niamh Sharkey.
If Niamh Sharkey’s Ravenous Beast was her loud, proud, chew-it-up book – I’m A Happy Hugglewug is her all-singing, all-dancing, ‘party on’ book.
There is so much enjoyable mayhem in this book that I actually don’t know where to begin describing its genius. But all I suppose you need to know is that the kids will adore the Happy Hugglewug Family and return to them time and time again!
(And I didn’t even mention the new Disney TV show, based on the book ,that is launching next year: The Happy Hugglemonsters.)
Come join us in every Eason store in Ireland at 11am on Saturday, December 1st, as we read I’m a Happy Hugglewug to children, adults and big kids!

This madcap, whacky and fantastically illustrated book deals with a bunch of aliens who have their priorities firmly set in order: underpants first, world domination later!
It’s a chucklefest from start to finish and the little ones will ADORE it.
Come join us in every Eason store in Ireland at 11am on Saturday, November 24th, as we read Aliens Love Underpants to children, adults and big kids!
Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s second Gruffalo book follows the exploits of an intrepid young Gruffalo venturing into the night, despite the warnings from Daddy Gruffalo.
What’s in the wood? Why, the big, bad mouse, of course! A scary creature that dines on the likes of Gruffalo cake (by the lake).
“I’m not scared, said the Gruffalo’s child.”
Maybe you should be.
Come join us in every Eason store in Ireland at 11am on Saturday, November 17th, as we read The Gruffalo’s Child to children, adults and big kids!
Cecelia Ahern visited Eason Belfast at the weekend to sign copies of her latest book, One Hundred Names. We took the opportunity to hit her with a pop quiz on her childhood memories of reading:

Cecelia: The Famous Five, The Babysitter’s Club, Sweet Valley Twins and The Magic Faraway Tree.
Eason: Who was your favourite author as a child?
Cecelia: Enid Blyton.
Eason: What’s your favourite book to read to children?
Cecelia: The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle.
This week’s Story Time book is Sam McBratney’s Guess How Much I Love You, a much-loved classic that children will simply cherish. The story of Little and Big Nutbrown Hares’ efforts to express their love for each other has become a publishing phenomenon, selling more than 30 million copies worldwide.
Come join us in every Eason store in Ireland at 11am on Saturday, October 20th, as we read Guess How Much I Love You to children, adults and big kids!
Her new book Nigellissima takes inspiration from Italian cooking to bring the spirit of Italy into the kitchen and onto the plate, pronto. At the heart of Italian cookery lies a celebration of food that is fresh, tasty and unpretentious; Nigella Lawson reflects this in recipes that are simple and speedy, elevating everyday eating into no-fuss feasts.
We hope to see you there!
He came, he saw, he… obliviated?
Anthony Horowtiz was in flying form as he met fans of all ages at our event in O Connell St.
He chatted about Alex Rider, The Diamond Brothers, Sherlock Holmes, the finale to his Power of Five series – Oblivion – and what projects he has lined up for the future.
Judith Kerr’s 1968 short story is an enduring classic involving an unsuspecting family and the greedy tiger who eats all their food and drinks everything in their house – including the water from the taps!
Come join us in every Eason store in Ireland at 11am on Saturday, October 13th, as we read The Tiger Who Came to Tea to children, adults and big kids!
