Guest Post: With All Patricia Scanlan’s Love (Plus Competition!)

Bestselling Irish author Patricia Scanlan sent us this exclusive post about the impending publication of her latest novel, With All My Love, which will be released on February 28th. Make sure to enter the competition at the end of this post to win tickets to an evening with Patricia!

Hello Dear Eason’s Followers on this beautiful sunny morning here in Dublin. I can’t believe it’s ‘New Book” time again. I remember twenty-two years ago (Ahem! Skip over that quickly) seeing the first copy of City Girl in Eason’s O’Connell Street with the lovely Sally Mimnagh who had invited me in to talk to the staff. It was one of the most exciting moments of my life, as was arriving at Easons the following year on my own bus, with big posters advertising Apartment 3B, to be greeted by Sally and the staff holding a huge banner on the steps of the shop saying Easons Welcomes Patricia Scanlan. Easons have been hugely supportive of my books down the years and it’s always a real pleasure to visit the shops on my book tours. We’ve held many events and it’s always great to go and meet all the other Irish authors at these occasions. We have sold millions of books worldwide, which is a wonderful achievement. Sadly, our dear Maeve has passed on but there are many more of us to hold her banner high. She was always very proud to see our books displayed in bookshops around the world.

This time last year I was just starting With All My Love, and today it’s all ready to go into Eason’s warehouse where I’ll soon be signing hundreds and hundreds of copies to go into the Eason shops countrywide so there will be signed copies for Mother’s Day everywhere. I’ll also be doing some formal signings in Eason’s O’Connell Street, Blanchardstown and Belfast. And we have a lovely event planned in Eason’s in Patrick Street, Cork. A Mother’s Day evening with me on Thursday 28th Feb, which will include prizes of lovely goody bags! Watch this space for dates and times. My publishers are also running a competition on my Patricia Scanlan Facebook page to win a signed copy of With All My Love before publication so please enter before Monday 18th.

My Publicity Manager will post on Facebook and twitter when I’m in the various shops signing stock so please drop in and say hello if you get the chance. Looking forward to seeing you and a big Thank You to Easons and yourselves for all the support down the years.

Story Time Book, February 9th – Dinosaurs Love Underpants

Okay. So the rumour started out that Aliens loved underpants. And so they did.

Then it became a known fact that Pirates were also fairly fond of these undergarments.

But what wasn’t known until very recently, but is now so definitely true… is that, while dinosaurs roamed the earth, they did so in the biggest, largest, most ginormous pairs of underpants you will have ever seen.

This book is that story. And it is AWESOME!

Come join us in every Eason store in Ireland at 11am on Saturday, February 9th, as we read Dinosaurs Love Underpants to children, adults and big kids!

Story Time Book, January 26th – The Lonely Beast

This week’s Story Time book is Chris Judge’s sweet and charming tale of a beast who, while happy doing what he does, feels the need to search for something different… and possibly find other creatures just like him. Judge’s story reminds me of Sendak’s Where the Wild Things Are – it’s simply drawn yet beautifully presented and told.

Kids will grow to adore The Beast as he searches the countryside and adults can only love a story in which being different and following your own path is as important a message as ‘friends and family’. Highly recommended!

Come join us in every Eason store in Ireland at 11am on Saturday, January 26th, as we read The Lonely Beast to children, adults and big kids!
